Sequential Factory Diagnostic Tree

Perform each diagnostic step in order. Disconnect electrical power and turn off utility shutoffs before inspecting wiring or internal mechanical assemblies.

Step 1: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Disconnect electrical power, remove rear panel or front lower panel to access heating element chamber.
Bench Test: Disconnect heater power wires and measure resistance across heating element terminals with multimeter.
Expected Standard: Normal resistance is approximately 11.5 to 14.5 ohms at room temperature.
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Resistance reads open circuit (0L). Replace coiled heating element assembly (137392700).

If Passed:

Proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Test continuity across the high-limit thermal safety fuse mounted directly on the heater housing.
Bench Test: Measure resistance across safety fuse spade terminals.
Expected Standard: 0 ohms (closed circuit).
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Fuse is open (blown). Replace high-limit safety thermostat kit (5303281153) and inspect duct for clogs.

If Passed:

Proceed to Step 3.

Step 3: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Test continuity across thermal limiter mounted on blower housing.
Bench Test: Measure resistance across blower thermal limiter contacts.
Expected Standard: 0 ohms (closed circuit).
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Thermal limiter tripped. Replace thermal limiter (134120900).

If Passed:

Proceed to Step 4.

Step 4: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Inspect motor centrifugal heater switch contacts.
Bench Test: Test centrifugal switch terminal 1M to 2M with motor at rest vs simulated run position.
Expected Standard: Contacts open when stationary, close when motor achieves running RPM.
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Clean lint from centrifugal switch or replace drive motor (137115900).

If Passed:

Replace electronic control board heater relay (137008000).
