Sequential Factory Diagnostic Tree

Perform each diagnostic step in order. Disconnect electrical power and turn off utility shutoffs before inspecting wiring or internal mechanical assemblies.

Step 1: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Disconnect power, remove freezer rear interior back panel to access the evaporator coil and NTC thermistor.
Bench Test: Inspect NTC sensor casing for cracked plastic, moisture ingress, or frost heave damage.
Expected Standard: Sensor probe sealed, clipped firmly to suction line or upper coil return bend.
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Replace evaporator NTC temperature sensor (00623143).

If Passed:

Proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Measure sensor resistance in an ice water bath (32°F / 0°C).
Bench Test: Submerge sensor tip in ice bath and measure resistance across sensor wire leads.
Expected Standard: 16,300 ohms (16.3k Ω) at 32°F; approximately 5k Ω at room temperature (77°F).
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Resistance out of tolerance (0L or 0 ohms). Replace sensor (00623143).

If Passed:

Proceed to Step 3.

Step 3: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Test wiring harness continuity from freezer interior connector to main control PCB in rear machine compartment.
Bench Test: Check continuity across sensor harness pins.
Expected Standard: 0 ohms continuity; clean pins with zero corrosion.
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Repair harness wiring or replace molex connector.

If Passed:

Proceed to Step 4.

Step 4: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Inspect main electronic control PCB in rear compressor compartment.
Bench Test: Check sensor input DC circuit traces for burned components or cold solder joints.
Expected Standard: 5V DC reference voltage delivered across sensor terminals from PCB.
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Replace main electronic control board (11020478).

If Passed:

Run diagnostic self-test to clear fault history.
