Sequential Factory Diagnostic Tree

Perform each diagnostic step in order. Disconnect electrical power and turn off utility shutoffs before inspecting wiring or internal mechanical assemblies.

Step 1: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Remove lint filter screen from door opening and inspect under strong light.
Bench Test: Wash lint screen with hot water and soap to remove invisible dryer sheet wax film.
Expected Standard: Water flows straight through mesh without pooling or beading.
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Clean lint screen thoroughly or replace filter (00652184).

If Passed:

Proceed to Step 2.

Step 2: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Disconnect exhaust duct from rear of dryer and inspect the rigid or semi-rigid ducting to outside wall cap.
Bench Test: Check entire duct run for crushed elbows, lint nests, or stuck exterior gravity louvers.
Expected Standard: Unobstructed, smooth 4-inch metal duct; outside damper opens fully under blower draft.
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Clean or replace exhaust ducting to restore required CFM airflow.

If Passed:

Proceed to Step 3.

Step 3: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Inspect exhaust NTC temperature sensor mounted on blower wheel housing.
Bench Test: Disconnect NTC sensor leads and measure resistance at room temperature (77°F).
Expected Standard: 10k ohms (10,000 Ω) at 77°F, dropping smoothly when warmed.
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Drifted or open thermistor. Replace blower NTC sensor (00613753).

If Passed:

Proceed to Step 4.

Step 4: Physical & Electrical InspectionMultimeter & Visual
Action: Test continuity across the manual-reset or one-shot thermal safety limit thermostat on heater box.
Bench Test: Measure resistance across thermostat spade terminals.
Expected Standard: 0 ohms (closed circuit).
If Failed / Out of Spec:

Replace high-limit thermal safety thermostat kit (00642879).

If Passed:

Replace main electronic control module (11006842).
